Dear Valued Guests

Nice to meet you all. This is the Guest House “Kitamasa” located in Tajimi City, Gifu Prefecture. We have been operating our business in this area for many years under the trade name “Kitamasa” and we are now starting a new journey as a guest house, using an old private home that has been passed down from generation to generation and is over 150 years old that we are here.

I have lived my life carefully observing seasonal events and traditions of Japan. I am so happy to see my friends who occasionally visit from overseas give me a fresh taste of such a normal life, and I want to see more of the good things about this way of life. I have decided to use part of my house as a guest house because I want everyone to know about it.

This area is called the Tono region (eastern side of the Mino region), is one of Japan’s leading pottery-producing regions of Shino ware and Oribe ware, which boasts a tradition of over 600 years, and is home to many kilns, many of whom based in this area. There are many excellent potters. There are many cultural facilities in the vicinity, such as the Museums of Ceramic Art, so if you like ceramics, this will be an attractive stay.

The Tokai region also has a wealth of tourism resources, including Magome, a post town on the Nakasendo Expressway, Tsumago, which has the atmosphere of an Edo period post town (about 1 hour by car), Gujo Hachiman (about 1 hour by car), and UNESCO It is also an ideal base for sightseeing trips to various places, including Shirakawa-go (about 2 hours by car), which has been certified as a World Heritage Site (cultural heritage).

We hope to become a guest house that is loved by everyone visiting Tajimi. Please feel free to drop by.
